The origins of acim trace back to 1965 when Helen Schucman, a clinical and research psychologist at Columbia University, began experiencing a series of inner visions and voices. Over the next seven years, Schucman, with the assistance of her colleague William Thetford, transcribed these messages into what is now known as A Course in Miracles.
